First Time? We've Got You

Japanese nail salons might seem intimidating, but the experience is actually relaxing and fun. Here's what happens from start to finish.

Your First Japanese Nail Salon Experience

Nervous about your first nail appointment in Japan? Don’t be! Japanese nail salons are welcoming, professional, and focused on giving you beautiful nails. Here’s exactly what to expect.

Before You Arrive

  • Confirm your appointment time
  • Have reference photos ready
  • Know your budget
  • Remove any nail polish (or budget time for removal)

When You Arrive

You’ll be greeted and shown to your seat. Most Tokyo salons are small and intimate – often just 2-4 seats. The atmosphere is calm and quiet.

The Consultation

Your nail technician will ask about your preferences. Even without Japanese, you can communicate through:

  • Showing reference photos
  • Pointing to color samples
  • Using simple words: ‘This one,’ ‘More pink,’ ‘Shorter’

At NURU NAIL, we spend about 15 minutes on consultation to make sure we understand exactly what you want.
